Siddiqa Al Lawati

Alternative Energy at OQ

Siddiqa is a female Chemical Engineer from Oman. She is a graduate from Imperial College London with an MSc in Advanced Chemical Engineering. Upon graduation, Siddiqa joined General Electric’s (GE) Graduate Engineering Training Program to be the first female to join an engineering leadership program at GE. Despite having experience in the oil and gas sector, Siddiqa decided to shift to the renewable energy industry four years ago. She’s currently a member of the Alternative Energy team of OQ, the government’s integrated energy company, to lead developments in renewable energy, green hydrogen and energy efficiency.



Her drive for innovation to assist carbon neutrality was reflected in her being one of the 35 finalists of the Diwan Youth Program for Skills Development. Outside of work, Siddiqa is leading the environment impact area of the Global Shapers Muscat hub, an initiative of the World Economic Forum. Through the Global Shapers Network, she volunteers in different community projects in the domains of equity and inclusion, climate change and upskilling Omani Youth.
